ABOUT THE CD
These selections try to give the listener a taste of some musical styles
which are rare, remarkable in quality and representative of their epoch.
Naturally, this brief selection will not include some historic recordings
which deserve a place among the perals of Persian music. The muisc lover
will doubtless be disappointed not to find a recording from Sabâ,
or the voices of some of the singers of the past. To fill such a void, this
anthology would have to be much longer. But since many of these recordings
are already readily available to enthusiasts we have instead selected recordings
that are both rare and have a superior technical quality to those normally
available.
